I’m Maddie Hamilton, and I’m the new Americorps VISTA member at the Tool Library! I’ll be working to build the Tool Library’s capacity to serve you all best, reach new communities, and develop new high-impact programming. My background is in architecture and critical social studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY. I‘m most interested in how placemaking happens (especially through alternative means like at the Tool Library!) and the constant intersections of design/building/spaces and people’s lives.
Although is a somewhat foreboding time for me to get started here, I have received a very warm welcome from the Tooligan family, and I’m excited to work with you all when we are able to meet in person. I’m happy to be joining such a strong, engaged organization.
I was born and raised in North Buffalo, and I look forward to reacquainting with my hometown. I was a high school and college rower — I love any way to get outside and play. Until we are all healthy and out and about again, I will be spending my free time cooking, baking, reading, drawing, gardening, practicing yoga, and spending time with my dogs.
