Governance Committee
- Strategic thinking and long-term vision
- Financial acumen

- Adaptability to guide organizations successfully
Communications Committee
- Graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Photography and videography
- Video editing and short-form content creation
- Social media strategy and content planning
- Media relations and press outreach
- Communications writing and copy editing
Programs + Events Committee
- Programmatic storytelling – social media stories and event photography
- Data tracking, metrics, and program evaluation
- Teaching, facilitation, or workshop development
- Evening/weekend availability
- Program and event planning and coordination
- Experience in the trades, tool use, or hands-on skill-building
- Relationship-building with community partners and vocational training programs
Development Committee
- Individual donor cultivation and stewardship
- Institutional fundraising
- Fundraising strategy and campaign planning
- Relationship management and donor communications
- Event-based fundraising (appeals, benefit events, community drives)
- Data tracking and donor management systems (CRMs)
- Comfort serving as ambassadors for The Tool Library in the community
Operations Committee
- Facilities, maintenance, and/or storefront operations
- Inventory, logistics, and/or operational systems
- Process improvement, workflow design, or project management
- Volunteer coordination and scheduling systems
- Data collection, reporting, and operational metrics
- Safety, risk management, and/or compliance
- Collaborative, solution-oriented problem solving in people-centered environments
Finance Committee
- Nonprofit finance and budgeting
- Financial statement review and interpretation (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Cash flow management and forecasting
- Internal controls and financial policies
- Risk management and financial oversight
- Experience with accounting systems or bookkeeping
Renovation Task Force
- Construction, architecture, engineering, or the building trades
- Project management and timeline coordination
- Budgeting and cost estimation for capital projects
- Facilities planning and space optimization
- Permitting, inspections, and code compliance
- Contractor/vendor selection and oversight
- Accessibility, safety, and user-centered design
Our Committee Members are volunteers, and behind the scenes, they help keep The Tool Library running, contributing to everything from planning events, writing emails like this one, engaging donors, making high level financial decisions, supporting the day to day operations of our shop, and so much more!
Their work means more tools available to more people, more things fixed and kept out of the landfill, and stronger, more resilient communities that are built on power of caring, sharing, and repairing.
